Schlumberger selects SatManage for competitive edge
SatManage to improve service availability and provide front-end interface to Schlumberger’s clients for network performance transparency

Cranfield , United Kingdom – February 22, 2006 - Parallel has announced today that its network management suite, SatManage, has been selected by Schlumberger to manage both their global client and internal satellite networks. SatManage will consolidate data and integrate with the existing management infrastructure to provide a single interface for analyzing and reporting network status and performance.

The implementation will take place at Schlumberger’s Customer Service Center in Aberdeen, Scotland and from here will be integrated with Schlumberger’s teleports around the world. Clients will be given access to the system via Schlumberger’s myNetwork Portal.

“Schlumberger’s attitude towards customer service is refreshingly forward thinking, and attests to their commitment to maximising the performance of their networks and the service provided to their customers, says James Dell, Director of Parallel in the UK.”

With SatManage, Schlumberger will be the first independent service provider to offer clients access to current and historical network performance. Schlumberger intends to empower their customers by enabling them to perform historical analysis, view their own Remedy trouble tickets and get an exact location of their mobile assets with SatManage’s Location Tracker. The level of transparency provided by SatManage will enhance client’s confidence and increase customer satisfaction.

In addition to enhancing the customer experience, Schlumberger will also look to optimize overall network performance. SatManage’s Signal Analyzer will provide Schlumberger with visual representation of signal quality for the entire network on one screen. They will use visual event correlation as an analysis and diagnostic tool to isolate, break down and resolve faults. The Signal Analyzer will reduce fault resolution time and overall number of network outages, improving Schlumberger’s service availability.

SatManage will integrate with Schlumberger’s existing infrastructure, which includes an iDirect Network Management System and the helpdesk software Remedy to form one system with SatManage acting as a Manager of Managers. A single interface to manage the whole network frees operational resources to enhance the network and service levels.

To increase operational efficiencies, SatManage will automate the production of monthly network reports.

Dell concludes, “In a market where competition is intense and satellite services are sold on price, efficient management is the key to enhanced customer satisfaction, increased sales and improved margins. SatManage is setting the new standard for management efficiency with its automation, integration capabilities and diagnostic tools. It will significantly enhance the experience of Schlumberger’s customers as well as giving Schlumberger themselves greater visibility into the network they operate.”
